Design Milk: The Beat Boxed 4

Check out my post today over on Design Milk "The Beat Boxed: Kings of Leon". I totally associate Kings of Leon with New Zealand, which is where I was this time last year:-( They were so popular in New Zealand and with everyone we met from all around the world!
Love them!
The proper rock of Kings of Leon translates beautifully into an interior. This modern farmhouse nestled back in the woods is polished but raw. Like the voice of Caleb, the raw beauty and pure brilliance is sometimes breathtaking....check out the rest of the article here.

Not Your Average Loaf!

I think these Loaf of Bread Notebooks are one of the coolest things ever!!!! I am obsessed with notebooks and paper and I seriously do go through them like a loaf of bread! I need to stock up on these and even get a couple of loaves to keep in the freezer!

Pick a Number

These are some inspiration boards for a guest bedroom project we are working. Which one is your favorite? I'd love to hear your thoughts and then I'll let you know which one we went with!

1. Guest Bedroom Option #1 based around a Suzani we have.

2. Guest Bedroom Option #2
3. Guest Bedroom Option #3 a little retro mod spin on the suzani.

I heart these rooms!

I love both of these rooms, so I just thought I'd share them with you! They both just looked so lived in and comfortable.

I could totally see myself lying in this bedroom reading! I can just imagine the soft sound of the sand timer:-) That table is stunning!

This is a great warm palette filled with such organic shapes and textures. Oh that sweater pendant is sooo cute! I'd feel so relaxed working here!

I stumbled upon these products from the Japanese company Cocca the other day and still cannot get over how beautiful they are. I feel like Japanese products are all the rage right now, or maybe they always has been, they do create some of the most gorgeous products ever! You have to check out Cocca's selection of printed textiles on the site! Such gorgeous patterns, textures, and the details are insane! Here are some of my favorites!

Mokuhan Pillow, Ore Honeycomb Bag, Iron Chair, Kitchen Hand (because seriously who doesn't need a gorgeous oven mit?)
ys bench (I'm obsessed with this fabric!)
Taisho pin cushion and measuring tape. How excited would you be to pull out this measuring tape?! Look at the detail in the wood!

Design Milk: The Beat Boxed 3

I was so excited for The Beat Boxed: Lili Haydn! She is one of my all time favorite artists and puts on the BEST live shows! I saw her play with Roger Waters at Coachella and it brought tears to my eyes...I didn't even realize what I was hearing and I couldn't even see her, she's just that powerful! I then saw her at The Hotel Cafe and was sure to get there early and sit front row for her this time. There were maybe 20 people there. Anyway she is the most talented artists EVER! She works from a studio high up in the canyon and trees in Los Angeles in a place she calls "Lililand". I have created my version of Lililand below. Check out the entire article on Design's a good one! And if you ever get the opportunity to see Lili Haydn play live do not pass it up!

Madeline Weinrib Atelier--WOW!

I've spent hours looking through the Madeline Weinrib Atelier site and am going crazy over all of her fabulous prints! Check out this collection of pillows, and this is only 6 of her endless possibilities! Alot of the fabric are handmade in Uzbekistan while some of these pillows are made with vinatage scarves. Sooo beautiful!

What unique and gorgeous chairs! These are reupholstered in her line of fabrics which can be ordered by the yard (through the trade). My favorite is the Blue Mu on the second chair. That fabric just looks so adorable on that chair. Check out the entire furniture line here.
Madeline Weinrib Atelier also has an extensive collections of carpets in some vibrant colors and gorgeous patterns!

Modern Industrial Traditional Kitchen!

I just love the details in this restaurant style kitchen renovation. It's traditional, modern, sculptural, and industrial without being too much of any of them. I'm seeing carrera marble being used a lot in the kitchens lately and although it's not the most practical material for the countertop, I will say it is gorgeous!

The way the double ovens are built into the wall is just gorgeous. And look at the details on that big butcher block island!

It's all about the details! Love how the carrera follows the line of the shelves!
It's just like sitting in your favorite cafe. No bring in the chef!

Modern Maritime Theme

Another fresh approach to this modern maritime theme. How cool is this Big Knot ottoman from Huttners?! And this Shopping light that looks like it got stuck in the fishing net...ughhh...genius! Below is Light on Earth and it's modern spin on the lantern.

Fresh Spin on Modern American

Just when I thought Henry Built was as good as it got they introduce Viola Park and a fresh approach to the design of the modern American kitchen!

It's all about the details oh and the POPS of color!! The green, gray, and walnut color combination is gorgeous! I want this kitchen NOW!

Hello Again!

So sorry for not getting back to you on Monday as I said I would do! I cannot believe almost an entire week has gone by. I've been really busy working...I actually leave work to go home to work, that is good I guess, right? So this morning as I'm sitting here feeling really guilty for not posting on my blog all week long I peek over at the blog Our Designed Life and saw this hilarious article called A BLOGGING PUBLIC SERVICE PAMPHLET. It really did brighten my day and if you're in a blogging rut it will brighten yours as well!

image from Happy Day

One of the projects I've been busy with is the design of a boys bedroom. I came across this Lletres wallpaper from Tres Tintas Barcelona that I think is just perfect. I just love the illustrative graphic affect and that fact that these little boys can learn from this!

The rest of the Tres Tintas line is super fab as well and here are a few of my favorites!

This is crazy, i wonder who all these little people are! oh I just love the blue bic pen feel.
Mil Caras

I think this collection is just insanely gorgeous. The large graphic and whimsical pattern in colors that are soft but still bold in their use! As you can see in the image below, these patterns are fierce:-)

So soft and delicate, but still has that spunk!

Happy Weekend!

Hello everyone, welcome aboard! Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your trip! I'll talk to you on Monday!

Let's Say Grace!

For those of you who haven't seen The September Issue, you must! It's surprising in unusual ways and really shows the amazing level of talent of the artists involved. I fell in love with the creative director Grace Coddington and I'm sure you will too! I also fell in love with this editorial by Grace. I have been trying to get excited about fall, you know switch wardrobes and stuff, but this weather here is so confusing. I absolutely love the colors here and think I might be able to work with these! I have been inspired, thanks again Grace! That gold is scrumptuous mixed with my favorite oh and green!

I found these over at the fabulous blog Moodboard! There are even more photos, so check them out!

Design Milk: The Beat Boxed!

I've just started a fun new weekly column over at Design Milk called The Beat Boxed which explores our relationship with music and how it affects our personal design style and how we "box" this beat within our homes. Take a look at this week's post featuring artist Little Dragon.

The Brighter Side of Black

I am a sucker for black walls, color, and the outdoors and this "Cutting-edge Melbourne Cottage" has combined these elements in a wonderful way. Beware these images are so powerful they even made my itunes start to skip:-)

Now doesn't this just look so peaceful?!

The pink wall rocks with the slate!

I am working with a Swedish couple on their gorgeous home in West Hollywood and I am totally thinking black kitchen...this almost confirmed it for me.

This modern chair gives this space that spunk that it needs to be playful.

You know I love the electric blue and this application creates art out of structure. Love it when that happens.

Still appreciating the Vitra Sofa!

Thanks Living Etc. for these fabulous photos and article! This is where I would love to be sitting with you have a friendly conversation!
