Daydreams

I'm feeling so at ease, almost like some kinda daydream! Just a few more hours before I'll return to the land of lala and make believe!

Oh and if you are in LA and looking for something fun to do check out the LA Flea Market at Dodgers Stadium and if you do remember to wear sunscreen! It's supposed to be a scorcher!

Church of Living by Zecc Architecten

A sacred space turned modern living space, would you want this to be your place?

"Sacrum and profanum, the holy and the earthly, as the opposites, can not exist simultaneously in the same space. The border is sharp, or... this is the way it used to be. What happens when the profane enters the realm of the sacred? How do these two worlds interact in restored church buildings?" via design traveller.

Design Milk: The Beat Boxed 15

I'm a little late on posting my last The Beat Boxed: Beach House article, but since it feels like summer is just beginning here in Venice Beach it feels a bit more appropriate today! Enjoy!

Teen Dream by Beach House is the perfect album for these lazy days of summer. Lying beneath the soft sultry sound is something a little deeper and slightly darker than what may initially appear at the surface. You might even say it’s something to the likes of a David Lynch movie. It’s the slower than average tempo and the dreamlike beauty in the voice and instrumentation of Alex Scally and Victoria Legrand that flutters into your mind and dances around like it’s the only thing there. You all should know the rules at the beach house. Relax, Relax, Relax.

And do just that as you watch the video for the Norway, the first single off of Teen Dream:

Now I am just going to imagine I’m at the Lazy Ole Moon Motel in some rugged beach town. The evening haze sets in, and the air is warm and humid on this hot summer night. The hammock gently sways as the warm breeze blows through the open doors. Beach House playing in the background and the vinyl record and the fireplace crackle in harmony. The stone like ceramic chandelier casts soft rays of light throughout the room as the wallpaper appears to dance with the music, soft and seductively. And you can hear the crashing of waves coming from somewhere beyond and the sounds of the night beginning to come alive as I lay in that hypnotic state.

Well you know you don’t have to just imagine this. You can head over to the The Surf Lodge in Montauk, take your Beach House Teen Dream LP and spend your days of summer relaxing in the sun, doing yoga overlooking the water, or just detoxing. Sounds like heaven to me!

Oximoron House by Sketch

I know I say this alot, but this time I mean it! The Oximoron House by Sketch could very well be my dream home! The renderings are fabulous, the open courtyard is stunning, the architecture is sculptural and playful. I might just have to add some graffiti/murals to the interior courtyard walls, but other than that this concept is perfection!

Ride Into The Sunset

I'm ready to take off across the city on one of these works of art, I guess we just call a bike. But I keep asking myself...what would I wear?! Ha, ha! I'm obsessing over the design of these one-of-a-kind bikes for Peugeot that will be auctioned off for charity.
