The Brighter Side of Black

I am a sucker for black walls, color, and the outdoors and this "Cutting-edge Melbourne Cottage" has combined these elements in a wonderful way. Beware these images are so powerful they even made my itunes start to skip:-)

Now doesn't this just look so peaceful?!

The pink wall rocks with the slate!

I am working with a Swedish couple on their gorgeous home in West Hollywood and I am totally thinking black kitchen...this almost confirmed it for me.

This modern chair gives this space that spunk that it needs to be playful.

You know I love the electric blue and this application creates art out of structure. Love it when that happens.

Still appreciating the Vitra Sofa!

Thanks Living Etc. for these fabulous photos and article! This is where I would love to be sitting with you have a friendly conversation!

It's Just Right!

I stumbled upon the work of New York based Sara Story Design and loved what I found! She did such an incredible job on this Gramercy Park Project. I love the boldness of colors and patterns and the clever use of space. We all know these New York apartments can be small, so you better use your space wisely, and this is exactly what Sara Story has done!
This kitchen is fabulous! Check out that patterned floor (which by the way is handpainted/airbrushed), the deep purple ceiling and those cabinets that are just the perfect shade of gray! I love the use of black in this space.

That chandelier is stunning! I think the partition wall is an amazing feature. The room still feels so bright and open while the wall breaks up the space. Do you think that bedroom is the old living room? Also check out that wallpaper...so fun! It also looks like the cabinets are built into the wall. Again such a clever solution.
That red is killer...and I mean it in the best way! What an adorable little bathroom. This kid must have a great view. What a fablulous use of space built in around and under the bed.

It's a Daydreamin' Kind of Day!

What an amazing week it has been here with my family. I feel like the girl in this image, just sitting back, relaxing, taking everything in, and daydreaming about what is and will be!

As I relax I daydream of beautiful places and I think this space is so beautiful in it's simplicity and perfect detail. The teal panels adds such a calming element to the already serene space while the sculptural details of the furniture and the dimensional textures in the objects and art allow your creative juices flow.
